Based on Jenny Han’s trilogy of books, the series is about Isabel “Belly” Conklin and her family as they go back to the beach house where they’ve spent every summer since before Belly was born.
But Belly’s annual trip to her favourite place is harder than usual this year because two of her friends, Jeremiah and Conrad, are interested in her. This puts Belly in the middle of a complicated love triangle.

Lola Tung was born in New York City on October 28, 2002. When The Summer I Turned Pretty came out, she was 19 years old. This means she is a few years older than the character she plays, Belly, who is only 15 when the show starts.
Lola has always wanted to be an actress. She went to New York’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, which focuses on music, art, and performing arts, before going to Pennsylvania’s Carnegie Mellon University to study.
